How To Get More Opting For Short Breaks In Portugal

With its close proximity to many major centers in Europe, organizing a short golfing trip to Portugal is becoming a very popular option amongst golfers. Unless you own your own company, getting time off for an extended holiday can be difficult and only normally happens once per year.

But that doesn’t rule out a shorter trip, say over a weekend? In fact, golfing buddies going away for weekends is one of the best ways to play a range of courses in Portugal, especially if you arrange three or four shorter trips a year.

So what is the best way to play a shorter trip?

Consider booking at a golf resort

Perhaps one of the easiest ways to plan a shorter golfing trip is to book at one of the many excellent golfing resorts found throughout Portugal, both in the Cascais, near Lisbon as well as the ever popular Algarve region. The benefit of a golf resort or hotel is that everything is in close proximity to you – accommodation, facilities, food and beverages and perhaps the most important, golf courses!

Some of the golf resorts in Portugal even have two or three courses in close proximity, one for a Friday when you arrive, one for a Saturday and then finally a quick round on a Sunday before you leave - the perfect golfing short trip!

Plan carefully

A short golfing trip probably requires more planning and careful thought than one of an extended period of time. You have such a limited time, especially if you are only going for a weekend. For this reason, careful planning is necessary. Book your tee times well ahead. Leaving them for the last moment, especially trying to do it when you get to the golf course might just end up in tears.

Also, decide on the amount of rounds you want to squeeze in during your break. You can always opt not to play a round if you are feeling a little ‘golfed out’. Make sure you give yourself enough time to get back to the airport to catch your flight. Many golfers have been stuck out on the course and missed theirs!

Flights

A large part of ensuring you have enough time on a golfing break is booking the best flights possible. Depending where you are choosing to take your shorter break, make sure you fly into the closest airport. That means you don’t need to spend unnecessary time in driving to your destination. For example, should you be having your short golfing break in the Algarve, you want to fly into Faro International Airport as opposed to flying to Lisbon and driving. It’s the little things that save time and allow you more time for golf!

Rest assured, once you have planned and undertaken your first short golfing break, the bug will bite and you will be planning the following one in next to no time.

“When you come to Portugal for a holiday, you will enjoy the cultural divide, the tourist attractions and most importantly interacting with the amazing people. For this incredible adventure, you will need to make sure that you plan ahead of schedule so that you have a better chance of enjoying a good time here.”
